A Quarantine Wedding-And It Was OURS!

Mar. 28th 2020 will forever be the best and weirdest day of our lives.

We were scheduled to be married on May 9th, in a beautiful nature outlook for the ceremony, with a small amount of family. Then, we were going to host our own reception in our backyard, taco bar and all! However, around February and March we realized that it wasn’t going to happen.

We aren’t the only ones to have to deal with this situation; we were among a whole community of bride and grooms that were now having to reschedule and postpone their weddings they’d been planning.

While negative aspects were quickly circling around of what was going on, we wanted something that would lift our spirits, something that we could look back on and remember as a bright moment throughout all of the chaos. So, we called our officiant, Lynn Grand, (if you’re looking for one for your own wedding she is amazing and we cannot say enough about her) and got married!

We wanted our loved ones to be involved, so we came up with a plan. As I was getting ready, Spencer set up a laptop, an amp, and a Rock Band mic… yes, you read correctly…we worked with what we had!

We set up a private Facebook group with just our closest family and friends and went LIVE! I programmed our camera with all the right settings for what it was outside and one of our roommates snapped the pictures, while the other was in charge of ensuring that the live feed continued to be up and running, as well as music.

…and we did the thing.

I was able to wear my wedding dress, we had already bought his tux, and the day was absolutely beautiful. We had a small group of our loved ones watching as I walked down the aisle and as we exchanged our vows. We even danced our first dance on the live, too!

Afterwards we ate dinner and went live again and talked with our family and friends as if it was our “reception”.

All of this to say, during your time of planning your wedding and all of the stress that comes along with it, keep in mind what is most important. Yes, we are going to re-do our ceremony and reception so that we can still have all of the traditions and plans we originally wanted but we are married! (insert happy girl dance)

We wanted to quiet everything else from the outside world and just do what made us happy and felt right, even if that meant going on Facebook live to do so.

I have found the one whom my soul loves
