Mandie is an amazing cake artist that is one of the vendors that will be participating in the styled shoot with us in September. This blog will share a little bit more about Mandie, her beautiful work, and her business in general.

Mandie Shelton has had her business for 5 years: Mandie Bakes Custom Cakes. She started from family gatherings: instead of bringing something savory, she would bring cupcakes. Mandie, with her love of being creative, started to experiment with styles, flavors, and bigger designs. After time spent just experimenting she found a love for it and started learning everything that she could so that she could grow in her craft even more. After this friends and family started to ask for different cakes, cupcakes, and other sweets for different events and that’s when it started to grow!

When it first started Mandie would create for her family and close friends, then once the business began to grow it became something that she was able to transition to working from home. This gave her the freedom of having a flexible schedule to stay home and allowed her the opportunity to be more available for her son, who came through foster care.  

Mandie is a home based business and runs out of Crossville, TN but obviously loves working with customers outside of Crossville as well!

She also isn’t your average cake artist, not only does she do beautiful wedding cakes but she also states ;

“If you want it made from cake, I want to make it out of cake! If you want a delicate floral masterpiece, or a cake that looks like your first dog, I'm the cake designer for you! “

She doesn’t just want your average cakes, she wants all the designs! Give her an image of your dog, kittens, zombies, dinosaurs, anything! (seriously take a look at her site…she’s amazing)

One of the best things that I say to my clients is that if they’re coming in with Pinterest photos of what they want from their shoot, that we will get the essence of the photo but that with them and I combined we will be different creatively just because, it’s our shoot, not theirs. I enjoy and thrive in creativity, We want our artistry, and you, to shine through each image that we capture. This is the same when we partner with vendors or other creators. We want their creativity and artistry to shine in whatever products that we are showing off for them.

The greatest thing with partnering with Mandie is that she believes the same thing, each cake even though they have a theme from what the customer is looking for, is designed and created with Mandie’s own spin. The cakes that she creates aren’t going to be the ones you find in a store, their hand made, by order, and with so much passion packed in every layer.

We are so excited to be working with Mandie Bakes Custom Cakes for this shoot in September and we can’t wait to see what her mind creates for us!
