Why are we writing in July about a styled shoot that’s happening in September? What even is a Styled Shoot? In this blog series, we are breaking down a styled shoot that we will be releasing in October that will be filled with ethereal, celestial, spooky vibes and we can't wait to share it. We’re having you follow the entire process as we go!

What is a Styled Shoot?

In short, a styled shoot is when vendors in the industry come together and plan a photo shoot that looks like a wedding, an engagement, or even a child’s photoshoot. We normally put together styled shoots that take the form of weddings. We partner with florists, bakers, hair and makeup artists, dress boutiques, tux rentals, jewelers, invitation creators, and anyone that you can think of that might be involved in a wedding.

The purpose of these shoots could be multiple things. One of those reasons is so that during a slow wedding season we can help create work and productivity for all the vendors involved, and couples can see current and relevant work from all the vendors participating.

Another reason is that all the vendors involved create more of a community connection between one another; for example, say you find your dress, the dress, but you cannot for the life of you and your partner find a photographer. The dress boutique, because of these styled shoots and other connections we’ve made within our community, can recommend vendors depending on what the couple is looking for as their aesthetic. We are able to better help our clients by knowing more vendors within our community and pairing our couples with their perfect vendors.

Lastly, a reason that would explain this specific photo shoot, it lets you get out creative ideas that might be different than what couples that hire you may have. For example, we have always wanted to do a dreamy, romantic, but yet elements of a spooky wedding. I can’t give all the elements away just yet, because where’s the fun in that? With a styled shoot, we are finally able to put this shoot together!

Instead of just sharing the end product photos, we wanted to take you with us!

In this series, we will walk you through the entire process of what it takes to prepare, how we set everything up, and then behind the scenes of us capturing the photos. The photo shoot will take place mid-September but once October hits we will be able to put up our final blog with the final reveal!

Along the way, we will introduce you to all of the amazing vendors that will be participating with us and have all the links that you will need to follow them and learn more about their businesses!

Sharing Glimpses

For the first blog in this series, we wanted to share glimpses of items that we have found in thrift stores that are going to be a part of the photo shoot.

We hit the thrift store at a perfect time. Normally when we go into the stores we don’t find much from just one location, and we have to go to multiple to feel like we’ve found a good haul for the day. Today, however, was very different! We walked into the store and immediately saw the glass bottles and the floral decor! The bottles were priced at $2.99 each and the floral bundle was $7.99!

As we moved throughout the store, we kept coming across amazing finds! We found a set of candelabras that were $12.99 and then two smaller ones that were $3.99 for both.

We also found charger plates that we will use for table decor, it was a set of 4 plates for only $3.99 and a set of candle holders for the same.

But… the best piece that we found was one that I almost let go. We were at the counter and checking out and Spencer knew I wanted it and turned around and grabbed it. (he’s the best) It was only $12.99 but it fit our aesthetic that we are going for in this photo shoot perfectly! It’s a wooden birdcage that has vines in it. It will be decorated differently of course for our shoot, but you’ll have to wait to see.
